The Henry Hudson Hour

This is The Henry Hudson Hour—a podcast about life in Austin, and everything that comes with it.

I’m Henry Hudson, and like a lot of people in this city, I’m trying to make sense of a world that’s loud, fast, and sometimes overwhelming—while still finding moments that make it funny, meaningful, and human. Austin is the backdrop, but the real focus is the conversations: honest ones, curious ones, and occasionally uncomfortable ones.

On this show, we talk about the heavy stuff—identity, mental health, change, politics—but we don’t stay there. We mix it with news, pop culture, local stories, and the everyday moments that shape who we are without us even realizing it. Some episodes are thoughtful. Some are messy. Some are just fun. All of them are real.

I care about this podcast because I believe conversation still matters—especially the kind that isn’t trying to win, sell, or shout. Just connect.

Why should you care? Because chances are, you’re living through the same questions, contradictions, and small moments too.

My goal is simple: after each episode, I want you to feel a little less alone, a little more curious, and maybe laugh on your way there.

George O'berg returns to The Henry Hudson Hour for a wide-ranging conversation about change, memory, aging, creativity, and the passage of time. What begins with a discussion about a house being torn down across the street evolves into a thoughtful exploration of how cities change, how our memories shape us, and what it means to make the most of the years we have left.
Along the way, George reflects on retirement, friendship, diversity, weight loss, mortality, and the artwork he still hopes to create. Thoughtful, funny, and candid as always, George offers a perspective on life that is both reflective and optimistic.

We talk about George’s experiences living in Austin through different eras of the city, the importance of building a life on your own terms, relationships, memory, family, antiques, and the ways the past continues to shape who we become. Along the way, George shares stories about his career, his personal life, and the people who’ve mattered most to him throughout the years.

Monday May 04, 2026

In this episode of The Henry Hudson Hour, I’m joined by Jarvis Lampley for a conversation about why everyday life feels heavier, more expensive, and more complicated than it used to.
We get into the real-world impact of rising costs—like gas prices—and how those changes hit people directly, not just in theory. From there, we zoom out to talk about bigger shifts happening around us, including how decisions at the highest levels are affecting representation and everyday life in ways people don’t always notice right away.
At the same time, we talk about how to stay grounded through all of it—whether that’s stepping away from the constant news cycle, finding balance through entertainment, or just focusing on what you can control day to day.
It’s a real, honest conversation about navigating change, staying aware, and trying to make sense of a world that feels like it’s moving faster than ever.

In this solo episode of The Henry Hudson Hour, I take some time to introduce myself and share a bit more about my life.
I talk about what it’s like being a seventh-generation Austinite and how the city has changed over time, along with my day-to-day life running a liquor store and studying Mass Communications and Media Studies at Arizona State University.
I also reflect on a meaningful and emotional weekend spent working on my late mother’s estate sale, and how experiences like that can make you pause and think about life in a different way.
It’s a more personal, laid-back episode than usual—but one that felt important to share.
